VIU Eyewear

VIU Eyewear is a Swiss brand that designs and produces high-quality eyewear directly for consumers, eliminating intermediaries to maintain fair pricing.

Their products are available online and in over 50 stores across Europe. To enhance the customer experience, sales people use a custom tablet app to take orders and manage prescriptions.

My work consisted of improving this tablet app to speed-up the sales process and enhance its intuitiveness.

Salespeople need quick access to various functionalities, including glasses configuration, prescription entry, order management, payment processing, and inventory management.

In the initial phase, we assessed the most frequently used features and developed an intuitive information architecture around them. This approach allowed new employees to navigate the app easily, minimizing the need for extensive training.

One of the main challenges was reducing complexity, as VIU offers hundreds of product configurations. Through extensive interviews with salespeople, we uncovered the primary issues with the existing app and tested dozens of interface variations using wireframes.

Testing the Experience with Sales People

The video above captures a live stream session featuring a diverse group of sales people engaged in testing prototypes based on wireframes.

We created a testing environment that allowed us to observe salespeople as they performed daily tasks with a high-fidelity prototype of the new app. By utilizing live streaming and recording, we could pinpoint the specific steps where they faced challenges. Through iterative improvements to the prototype, we eliminated all barriers, resulting in a seamless experience that required no instructions.
